Fall River Native Rainbow

It took me a couple years to figure out access, then another to refine my approach - I now know how to get to, and take advantage of the finest spring-fed native trout fishery in the lower 48. Artificial, barbless, catch-and-release. The fish in this picture was as big as my forearm.

Road Trip - South 395 along Eastern Sierra, Los Angeles, Return via 101 - Paso Robles, Ben Lomond, Clayton and home to Lookout

First, camped at Likely, Ca. and whacked a golf ball around.

Then camped at June Lake ....

Quick find - Hot Springs off of 395 ...

Onward to the incomparable Alabama Hills at the base of Mt. Whitney. Literally blown away as a thunderstorm blew over Sierras and us...

Then to UCLA with Lauren to attend Marian's Residency graduation where over a couple of days I managed to take no pics ......

Back North on 101 camping at Franklin Hot Springs ....

To Ben Lomond, then lunch with my brother ....

Two un-photographed nights in Clayton (Golf, vodka and The Sun Kings) - then I-5 (which I hate) home - and collapse.

Starting to Feel Like Spring?

Cruising the Rat Farm after dealing with stunningly stupid DMV experience. I would put them up against the worst bureaucracies in the world - India, Russia .... no contest. If I worked there I would shoot myself.

My trusty Mercedes 240 Diesel - I could drive it to the moon (at 50 MPH)

To me, the Mother Mountain, Shasta

In the distance the snow geese are back - Hard to see but, when they take flight, it's impressive.

Widow Valley Creek

Explored Widow Valley creek. Not far from home but isolated so I had never been here before. Not sure if there are any fish, but will attempt at some point. Usual detritus from grazing cattle - not sure how clean the water is as a result. Regardless, at least a good picnic/nap spot.

Where I Spent My Summer

I missed Summer completely. I had been getting progressively more tired and run down. Figured I just needed to up my physical activity. Upshot: Abdomen pain; helicopter to Reno hospital; Diverticulitis resulting in exploded large intestine, liver abscess and subsequent abdominal abscess. Three surgeries and got to confront mortality. 109 days in the hospital.

I'm alright now. Still working on strength, but moving around and soon to take my annual Pacific Beach southern drive (though no camping this year). Son of a bitch. I got that going for me.

Me Now

A Little While and Completed Project

Well, I finished fixing up the boat. Here's what it looks like and, after some minor engine work, runs well. Can now properly go after the Fall River trout. Mokros helping me check it out.
